|It’s all about connecting with the people I am working with. I want to get to know you and make you feel at ease, to capture memories and tell your story – no super awkward cheesy posing! I can often be found exclaiming with delight when I find beautiful light, exploring surroundings and looking and listening for the moment. My editing is about texture and colour, creating sparkly blurry backgrounds , emotive black and whites, and above all finding interesting ways of looking. The best way to describe it, is that I feel my way through taking photos, as well as seeing them.||My job is to put you at ease in front of the camera and capture the day as it unfolds. I am an artist and a romantic but also a realist. This is not a one size fits all thing – finding the uniqueness in all the people I work with is the thing that drives my creativity.
I was recently featured in an interview over on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog – you can read the article here and it will hopefully tell you lots more about the way I work!
What if I’m camera shy?
To be honest, I’m the wedding photographer trying not to be a ‘wedding photographer’! I don’t want you to notice me, or feel like you are being photographed in a formal way – but rather I love to capture moments and the story of the day. While I’m taking portraits of you we will just chat normally as I click away and hopefully have a bit of fun together – we can be as creative or subtle as you like. I totally understand what it’s like to be on the other side of the camera as I remember from my own wedding photos and have had my photograph taken by other photographers to help to put myself in my clients’ shoes.
How do I approach wedding photography?
I shoot in an unobtrusive and friendly way, helping you to feel comfortable as I work. I will spend your wedding day or portrait session creating images that you will treasure – the emotion, the precious moments, your lovely guests and of course the little details. I will tell the story of your wedding through the images I make. I will take mostly observational photographs but feel it’s important to make time for some portraits of you as a couple – we can have some fun with these or keep them relaxed, whichever is right for you.
Family or group photos after your ceremony are so important, a more formal way of recording your family. I try to keep formal family photos to a small number as they can take up a large amount of time on the day, but recognise their importance for you and your family so let me know which ones you would like!
What is a portrait session?
Portrait sessions are available for families, individuals, couples and can be for personal or business use. I want to create images that capture the essence of the people I’m photographing, that are relaxed, happy and represent your personality. I shoot on location rather than in a studio -choose somewhere that suits you and has a relaxed vibe. We’ll chat lots before hand and get to know each – it’s important that I know what you would like to get out of the session and we’ll work together to create this!
