Alexa Loves : Instagram May

Hmm better late than never they say!  I didn't quite get this post published for the end of May as I had a very busy week last week.  I love sharing my monthly Instagrams, and reflecting on the things that have been catching my eye over the last week.  If you're on Instagram, add me @lexaloy as I love to see what other people are getting up to.

We moved into our new house in the middle of winter, and May has been a month of revelations in the garden, so many interesting things have bloomed the strangest of which turned out to be a regular fern but started out looking like an extra from Men in Black.  So mesmorising.

I've also really been enjoying working in the garden, gorgeous.

Kings Cross is one of my favourite places in London.  I spent some time doing a walking tour which I downloaded as an app called Street Stories from the Guardian, for local history geeks (Me!) it's really interesting, I even went as far as getting the 'extra' version which is basically 70 audio clips from local residents and literature over the years telling the stories of Kings Cross.  I would definitely recommend it and you can listen in GPS or manual mode.  For example did you know the roof in St Pancras was originally painted black to absorb the dirt from the steam trains but is now painted light blue to be the colour of the sky!

I love spending time in stations people watching....

Interesting shapes in nature....

Shadows...

The colour blue.  I've been playing with composition and really enjoying it.

I love the way the weather has been swinging from the sublime to the ridiculous is a matter of minutes.  These photos taken ten minutes apart...

Jubilee madness.  Enough said.

And what's next for Alexa Loy Photography? Well I've been out and about shooting several different projects which I can't wait to share.  I've been reading an amazing book by Elizabeth Messina (an inspiring photographer) and have been developing my new website which will be launched later in the summer...

May ended extremely well... my friend Simone is German and cooked us Kaese Spaetzle...mmmmm my favourite Bavarian meal, it looks strange but is the ultimate comfort food, cheesy oniony carbs. Delish!

What have you been up to in May? I'd love to hear all about it!
