On Tuesday afternoon I met up with
Lou and
Laura at Hitchin Lavender, not far from where I live. The sun was shining and I felt like summer had arrived for the first time in a long time!! Lou brought along her lovely family and we spent a glorious afternoon in the sunshine, picking lavender, listening to the buzz of a million bees and taking lots of photos. As we paid our entry fee we were each handed a pair of scissors and a bag to fill....as I write this blog post I can smell the photos as I have a pot of lavender sitting beside me!
I LOVE that Laura co-ordinated her outfit with the plants, it made me very happy indeed.
Close your eyes. Imagine yourself in a field of lavender. Hear the sound of a million bees, the field actually almost vibrates with the noise of the pollen sucking beasties. Amazing. I couldn't stop thinking about how the experience would be so different for little kids - running through fields of purple at head height must be a childhood memory that will stick for a long time.
Loving the work of Lou's nearly 3 year old...he LOVED using my big camera! Loving the tilt!
I'm really enjoying being able to get out into the countryside so easily - this is about 2 miles from my house, such a contrast to living opposite a tube station for the past 3 years.
I loved watching these two ladies take photos of each other, there was a lot of lavender inspired joy going on!
My house now smells amazing and I'm walking round all very 'zen' thanks to the calming properties of the purple wonderstuff. I also kinda enjoyed finding places to store it....
I'm really enjoying living in Hitchin, it's such a lovely place to be. Have you been to Hitchin Lavender or do you know of any other fields near you? I'd really love to shoot a weddig or do some family shoots or engagement shoots here so if you're up for that let me know!I
