Favourite moments of 2014...
2014 is coming to an end - things have been quiet on the blog as I have been adjusting to life as a new mum looking after little Seb who came along in July. I have really enjoyed putting together 3 end of year posts which will follow over the coming days. Moments of 2014, Places of 2014 and Portraits of 2014.Here are some of the best moments of 2014 - no posed portraits in this blog, just the moments I have loved whole heartedly, candid images, the ones that fire me up and inspire me. The glances, the little moments like holding your mum's hand on her wedding day, or walking through the flats where you live everyday but wearing your wedding dress going to get married, dancing with your best friends after some fizzy bubbles, giggling with your Nan...or just the list of things to get ready for the wedding, so important in the run up but now left done, forgotten on the sideboard as the day commences...or eating a banana in your kitchen, yup, that photo of Greg is one of my favourite ever - just daily life, so very precious and important.I have mixed up weddings, family sessions and my own personal photos in this post as finding a right order for the images was impossible - I realised every time I lift my camera is just as important - it comes with no agenda or priority...I want to capture those memories for me or for family I am spending time with. I capture them with my camera and my heart. I have absolutely loved getting to know all the couples and families who I have photographed, thank you for welcoming me so kindly, this is the best job in the world.
I also want to say a huge thank you to Mark for second shooting almost every wedding with me, what an awesome sidekick... and also to Nisha who supported me in my final weddings just before I had my baby and then photographed lots for me while I was on maternity leave. Also to Michelle, Lydia, Cristina and Johanna who also supported me too, I am so lucky to know such awesome photographer friends! Without you guys I know for sure I wouldn't have got through - you rocked it with your camera and with my couples :)2014 you were subtle, glittery, loud, unsaid, quiet, surprising, amusing, hilarious, bloody hard work, filled with nervous anticipation, nostalgic, sometimes scary and definitely reflective, I guess in all, life changing. I have made new friends and rekindled with old ones, travelled around the country for weddings (thanks for all the driving Daf!), reached a standstill in my final weeks of pregnancy and then walked miles and miles around the streets of Hitchin pushing a colicky baby to sleep. I learnt more about the importance of my family to me than I ever thought possible. 2014, you contained far more cake than anticipated and for that you will always be remembered as the Year of the Cake- seriously, I had a baby and everyone brought cake, it was good.
